Hi Steve, yes I do remember being in Acapulco the first time. It was 1969 and I was 9 at the time. I remember sitting in the port hole in our cabin as we entered and anchored in the harbor, the room shaking as the great chain went out. also getting land sick as soon as we landed on the dock and mum having to take me back to the ship. I remember the taxi ride we took with mum and dad and seeing the cliff divers. We are planning on heading over to see the divers later today after a provisioning run, should be cool.
We took the mail sail off the boat yesterday to have a small tear repaired. I patched with sail-mend tape but I couldn’t stitch it properly so we sent it out to get fixed. We also took off the dodger to have every seam re-stitched as well. Apparently spending the summer here just burned up the old thread so the dodger is coming apart at the seams. We are also having 3 new plastic windows installed as well, basically our front windshield. When the cleaners were washing down the boat last summer they use a very harsh detergent which caused the glass to go milky, hard to see through. Wanted to get this work done in Ixtapa but the services were not there. The cost is not bad, a lot better than at home and they promised to have it all done by the next day. I paid for 3 days at the dock here to get the work done. Need to work on the little outboard and install new layjacks for the mainsail. Replaced the shower sump pump last night as the old one quit during Jan shower. We had a great wind blow through the harbor yesterday which kept us quite cool, it was nice. Actually I think the last two days have been the coolest/nicest yet. Hope it continues.
Went for a swim in the pool just after sundown. From the raised pool deck you can see most of the harbor, very pretty. Anyway it’s time for me to make breakfast for the ladies and get to work, need to run the laundry up a couple of blocks to the Laundromat first thing.
